Ratcheting up Success
A Manager's Diversity Toolbox
Why You Need It
So, you manage a Department, a team, a project group—some collection of people trying to accomplish a task. Not only are you responsible for the success of the task, you’re also responsible for the success of the people you manage. This is never easy, but with both an increasingly diverse workforce and increasing pressure to perform, it can begin to seem an impossible task, especially when you’ve never had access to a usable framework for approaching diversity from the manager’s perspective. Still, however hard the task, an overwhelming percentage of employees point to their manager’s inability to understand them and their point of view as the main reason they left the organization: people generally don’t quit their job—they quit their boss.
