Leading Across Generations

What It Is
Leading Across Generations is a clear and practical presentation of why generational conflict occurs in the workplace and what can be done to manage it, turning apparent barriers into substantial benefits. Each of the four generations covered (Veteran, Baby Boomer, Generation X, Generation Y) has its own approach to work, and an effective leader knows what these are how to approach employee goals and outcomes with a generational mindset. Our bi-generational facilitators (Boomer + Gen X) will help participants see that not only is understanding possible across the Generation Gap, it’s absolutely essential for the success of forward-looking organizations.

Objectives
Participants will:

  • learn the “cultural markers” of each generation: what are their identifying behaviors and perspectives
  • acquire tools for bridging generational differences
  • learn effective leadership styles for each generation and practice an adaptive leadership response that respects generational difference

Why You Need It
Many leaders are discovering that the intergenerational workplace is one of the most challenging diversity issues they face. Four generations working side by side offer the organization a wide range of skills and perspectives—the challenge as leaders is to understand the nuances of each generation and then respond appropriately, creating an environment that satisfies and engages the talents of all employees.
