The Dynamics of Culture in a Global Workplace

What It Is
This workshop sets up participants for success navigating the often tricky waters of the global workplace. Uncovering the fundamental markers of cultural difference, they’ll explore the impact of those markers on cross-cultural organizational contact. Identifying their own cultural preferences, and the assumptions inherent in them, learn the use of a number of practical tools for bridging differences and nullifying assumptions.

Objectives
Participants will:

  • identify fundamental cultural markers
  • understand the impact of those cultural markers in the global workplace
  • identify their own cultural preferences along with the perceived advantages and disadvantages to those preferences
  • practice tools for bridging cultural differences in the workplace

Why You Need It
Successful global organizations are learning that success as a global company requires an attention to the dynamics of culture. Culture is like internal programming, and it comes into play numerous times in daily life within a global company. It is a part of employee interactions and conflicts, internal and external communications, leadership styles and business processes, among others. Fortunately, there are easily-identifiable cultural markers that anyone in a global organization can learn to learn to better understand both their own cultural programming as well as that of their co-workers.
